Starting w ith the leading  performance fr om the first d iva in Mexic an cinemato graphy a ccording to some (An drea Pal ma), withou t forgetting Do mingo Soler wh o also makes a great contr ibution to the  cast in t his film, then t he great streng th of the plot and the ma sterful directi on by Arc ady Boytler. Al l in all t his movi e cannot be con sidered less th an excellent . So yes , maybe some of the sc enes don& #39;t r esult quit e the way th ey should, but most o f them do. Particularly the scen e from t he carnival at the beginn ing of the movie and the  last scen e bring you to the v erge of tears.  Yes it also man y elements of a catholi c moral ( Rosario lives in guilt, her w ay of payi ng her s ins is  by means  of sacrifi ce), but we ha ve to con sider the  movie was rel eased in 1934 and the Mexi can society o f the time ha d those value s dictating o ur lives a nd, wea ther we t ake this into  considerat ion or not, I  think the the p lot is real ly really tough and the theme ve ry strong. May be nowad ays we have  many movie s with pl ots that are t wice or thrice as tough,  but I think  this is still a great, grea t movie an d has no soap opera can nev er even remotel y compar e with it .
